"Fantastic Caverns" Springfield, Missouri.
Fantastic Caverns- America's Ride-Through Cave - is a family owned business. It was discovered in 1862 by a farmer - or more precisely, by his dog, who crawled through an entrance. It wasn't until five years later that the first exploration took place: 12 women from Springfield, answering a newspaper ad seeking explorers, ventured into the cave. Their names remain on a cave wall today. The cave was used as a meeting place for the Klu Klux Klan, and as a speakeasy during Prohibition.Because the beauty of Fantastic Caverns is vulnerable, the Cave is toured in jeep-drawn trams. Since you ride all of the way through, you experience the magnitude, the stillness, and the splendor of Fantastic Caverns while preserving its natural features.

Steve Jones, the Plant Man, has an interesting landscaping idea that involves kids in this column. Something to think about next time there's weeding to be done (which is a long way off, to be sure, for those in the North). Why not build family ties and have fun, while getting some landscaping work done at the same time?

Walt Disney Spaceship
I have always wanted to go here. I mean for 38 years but have never made it. I didn't get to take my son and now he is 21 years old and I have a 2 year old grandson that I would love to take. But I don't have the finances to do so. I hope my son goes someday and takes his son, which I beleive he will.

Rock Climbing is the favorite challenge for kids as they get older! Younger kids build up to it by climbing sideways around the Octagon. Once they feel ready, then they climb up and over. One of Barbara's favorite play theories is that every good play structure should have some easy activities that the kids can have fun with right away (e.g., swings, ramps and ladders) and also some harder elements that they grow into, such as rock climbing. This keeps the play structure fresh and interesting for years to come.
